California Senate Bill (SB) 1162 requires, among other things, annual pay data reporting. The California Civil Rights Department has recently an updated FAQ section for the upcoming 2023 reporting year. We call to your attention the following:
- Reports are due May 8, 2024, for the 2023 reporting year
- Updated versions of the pay data reporting Excel templates, .CSV examples, user guide, training slides and the portal are now available at www.calcivilrights.ca.gov/paydatareporting
- Employers are now required to report if employees worked remotely during the snapshot period. A “remote worker” is defined as an employee who works entirely from home or a remote location and does not have to regularly go into a physical workplace. Employees who have a combination of remote and in person work, and who are expected to go into a physical workplace during the snapshot period, are not considered remote workers for reporting purposes.
- Reporting “unknown” race / ethnicity or sex of a labor contractor employee is no longer allowed for labor contractor employee reports
