Getting Started
Submit the Statement of Intent and Application for Conditional Approval and all supporting documents prior to production activities in Colorado.

Production shall submit application prior to beginning production
activities in the state for the project the production company is seeking the incentives for. You must include a statement of intent by the production company to produce a film in Colorado for which the production company will be eligible to receive the incentive. The production company shall submit any documentation stating the projected qualified local expenditures
For those companies seeking the CO based incentives; the CO based companies must provide documentation that the production company meets the definition of 'originates" by showing copies of income tax forms, proof of voter registration, or utilities bills.

Claiming Incentive
The Colorado Film Office will issue a rebate check to the production company after review of the CPA report and all other required documentation.

Production must enter in a contract with in line with the CO "Procurement code" in order for the Film office to issue on the incentive.

CO now has a recapture for the credits

Compensation Cap: $1 million per individual.

Salaries and wages for residents and nonresidents qualify if subject to income tax withholding .

The Declaration of Colorado Residency forms may be submitted with the Film Incentive Proof of Performance.

The Colorado Film Office may provide loan guarantees of up to 20% of the entire production budget. Contact the Film Office for more information.
